| Accuracy absolute (@ ambient temperature stability ±1K) | The accuracy is defined as the difference between the target temperature of the heating plate and the average of the measured temperature on the heating plate. The heating plate temperature is measured at 5 positions on the heating plate according to the Inheco measurement head PM-0105. The 5 measurement positions are according to the Plate positions A1, H1, E6, A12 and H12.

Why use a single plate incubator shaker?
For some types of cell growth, heat is not enough. Shaking the sample can improve the supply of nutrients as well as oxygen to the cells. While it’s theoretically possible to put a shaker into an incubator, using a combined incubator shaker provides the best conditions for cell growth. It combines heat and movement in one controlled and protected environment. That makes it invaluable for cell culturing, cell aeration, and solubility studies, for most types of cells including bacterial cultures, tissue cultures, and yeasts.
What to look for in a single plate incubator shaker?
Incubator shakers are available in many different configurations, but temperature ramp rate and accuracy, and choice of shaking patterns are essential to all. Here are some of the main factors to consider.
- Size and capacity - with the ability to handle samples in varying cell carriers while fitting comfortably into your workstation. Bigger is not necessarily better for all labs.
- Floor-based or bench top - floor-based tend to have larger capacity, bench top may be easier to integrate into your workflow.
- Programmability/automation - how will your incubator shaker integrate with your existing set up?
- Adjustable speed and shaking patterns - that deliver enough options to meet all your expected requirements.
- Temperature range - what is the hottest your assays are likely to require?
- Temperature accuracy and uniformity - essential for precise processing of all your assays.
- Temperature ramp rate - the faster your cells get to temperature, the higher your throughput can be.
- Cleaning and sterilizing - to keep your samples uncontaminated, your incubator shaker should be easy to keep clean.
Use of the Inheco Single Plate Incubator Shaker
The Inheco Single Plate Incubator Shaker is used in NGS-library preparation, PCR, incubation and sequential enzymatic digestions in labs around the world. It’s often integrated with liquid handling workstations, in combination with a reader and robotic arm.
Labs also use the Inheco Single Plate Incubator Shaker for ELISA, bioassays, NA Hybridization and dark incubation to protect sensitive (fluorescent) dyes from degradation.
Unique shaker drive for more pattern choice
Shaker DriveThe Inheco Incubator Shaker uses a unique shaker drive based on a two-axis pendulum-like swinging system.
As each axis is moved independently, the resulting shaking curve can be controlled by overlaying the x-axis and y-axis movements. That provides a wide choice of shaking curves to be programmed, including linear, circle, elliptic, figure-of-eight and Lissajous figures.
The Inheco Incubator Shaker drive allows the best possible choice of shaking curves with significantly reduced structural vibration of the product.
Direct contact heating with temperature boost for best heating rates
HeatingThe Microplate (MP) variants use bottom contact surface heating. Samples heat from 20 °C to 37 °C in approximately 20 minutes.
The DeepWell Plate (DWP) variants heat from all sides within the chamber to avoid condensation during incubation. Samples heat from 20 °C to 37 °C in approximately 10 minutes, up to 4 times faster than in conventional incubators.
